Job title: Social Studies teacher at the ALC

Classes you teach: All High School Social Studies subjects; History, Geography, Economics, Civics

Previous work experience: This is my 11th year teaching. My last position was in the small district of Wabasso in Southwest Minnesota.

Years with the district: 1st year

What are some of your hobbies and interests? I have many interests and hobbies. I like gardening and cooking. I also enjoy camping, canoeing/kayaking, and other outdoor activities. Lastly I love dogs, I have 3 and they bring a ton of happiness.


What’s something interesting about you that not a lot of people know? 

I lived in Denmark as an exchange student.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in education? 

A college professor told me to figure out a good "life scam." He recommended teaching because you get paid to read and talk about books. I thought that sounded like a good plan.

What do you enjoy most about working with students?

I like feeling like I'm helping.

Share a fun project you've worked on or innovative teaching method you've used this year. What made it memorable for you? 

I'm looking forward to teaching my World History class about WWI, I've got lots of things planned for that unit.  It's one of my favorite topics in history!

What do you enjoy about being part of Faribault Public Schools?

My co-workers at the ALC are the greatest; I'm really lucky to be surrounded by them.
